Pressure Testing

Pressure testing is a test performed on a two stroke engine to ensure that the engine has no air leaks. An air leak in a two stroke engine can cause a lean condition in your engines air-fuel mixture. This in turn can result in serious engine damage.

Head Skimming

An internal combustion engine is subjected to extreme forces temperatures. Combustion occurs between the piston and cylinder head. In time the temperature and forces associated with combustion will warp this surface of the cylinder head. This could lead to the cylinder head gasket ‘blowing’. To eliminate this warping the cylinder head in skimmed.

Valve and Seats Re-cut

Valves are re-ground and valve seats are machined to the correct angle as specified by the manufacturer. Prior to machining, valve stems and valve guide bores are checked for wear, valve seats are found to be cracked or damaged these can be machined and inserts fitted. Worn valve guides can be replaced. Where the guide is an integral part of the head, these can be machined and fitted with a sleeve, enabling the standard size valve stem to be used.

Crankshaft Re-grinds

During the grinding process all journals are machined to the manufacturers recommended sizes. The large shafts are supported on steadies to eliminate any possible run out, the strokes are checked and corrected and the radii are kept to manufacturers recommendation.

Blocks Re-bored

Cylinder Blocks for boring are set up on a vertical boring machine using a dial gauge to centralise and check parallelism. Each cylinder is checked with a cylinder bore gauge and on completion is transferred to a honing machine for finished sizing. We can also bore for, and fit liners and machine flange recesses.
